Nagayana is loosely based on the Hindu epic of Ramayana. Its timeframe starts from year 2023 AD. It puts the two major super heroes of the Raj Comics family Nagraj and Super Commando Dhruva in roles similar those of Hindu god Rama and his younger brother Lakshmana. The equivalent of Ravana, is played by Nagraj's uncle Naagpasha, who has been trifurcated into Kroorpasha the Brutal one, Bheerupaasha, the coward one and Suptpaasha, the asleep one, the Raj Comics version of Kumbhakarna due to an experiment by his teacher Gurudev. Naagpaasha is shown to be deriving powers from Mahakaal Chhidra or the Black Hole. However, it may be noted that Nagayan is different from Ramayan in several aspects.
